CANCALE

If you are partial to oysters or you would like to try them for the first time then this is the place to visit. The sea shore is a myriad of oyster beds and you can purchase and eat freshly picked oysters from the market stalls by the sea front. There are also a selection of seafood restaurants should you be ready for lunch and want to enjoy a meal paired with a glass of wine.

To walk off your lunch you could spend some time taking in the scenery from La Pointe de Grouin which forms the westerly tip of the Baie of Mont Saint-Michel and on a clear day it is possible to see the majestic Mont Saint-Michel rising out of the sea. It is also part of the GR34 coastal footpath.

ST MALO

Not just a ferry port!! There is much to see and do in and around St Malo, not to mention the gorgeous sandy beach to the north of the city on the Emerald Coast. Inside the walls are cobbled streets lined with medieval buildings and shops aplenty if you are looking for a mooch around. You will be spoilt for choice with the number of restaurants and cafes at lunchtime.

If you are looking for a walk, access is free up onto the ramparts which cover a distance of approximately 2kms, this gives you wonderful views of the sea, beaches, the harbour and estuary. Steps up onto the ramparts can be reached by the castle and each of the city gates.
